HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donald Sevener on
4the occasion of his retirement as deputy director for external
5relations for the Illinois Board of Higher Education in
6December of 2011; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has served with the Illinois Board
8of Higher Education since 1997; during his tenure there, he has
9excelled as the public spokesperson for the Board and as chief
10liaison to the General Assembly; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has been involved in a leadership
12role in the development of the Illinois Public Agenda for
13College and Career Success, the State's blueprint for education
14policies to improve the student success and college completion
15of more Illinoisans, so that Illinois is ready to face its
16economic future with a well-educated and trained workforce; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has established and maintained a
18professional and purposeful relationship with members of the
19General Assembly and their staff in order to establish
20effective policies and programs to implement the goals of the
21Illinois Public Agenda; and

1    WHEREAS, Donald Sevener, a trained journalist, reported on
2Statehouse activities for many years for numerous
3publications, including the Lindsay-Schaub Newspapers, the
4Illinois Times, and the Illinois Issues; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Sevener served as an adjunct faculty member
6at Lincoln Land Community College, the University of Illinois
7at Springfield, and MacMurray College; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we thank Donald Sevener for his service to the citizens of the
11State of Illinois, especially to those who have been educated
12at Illinois' colleges and universities, and extend our best
13wishes to him in his retirement; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Donald Sevener as a symbol of our esteem and
16respect.
