HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lieutenant Gary
4Bober of West Dundee on the occasion of his retirement from the
5Streamwood Fire Department on December 30, 2011, after over 34
6years of service; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Gary Bober began his firefighter career in West
8Dundee in 1976 as a Paid-On-Call Firefighter; he continued to
9work as a Paid-On-Call for West Dundee until 1983; in 1978, he
10was hired as a career firefighter in Maywood; he resigned from
11Maywood when he was hired by the Streamwood Fire Department on
12August 14, 1978; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gary Bober steadily ascended the ranks of the
14Streamwood Fire Department; he was promoted to the rank of
15lieutenant on July 20, 1988; he also served as the dive master
16of the Department in the 1980s and developed a HazMat team
17involving area fire departments in 1985; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary Bober earned numerous State of Illinois
19Certifications during his career; on April 20, 1983, he was
20awarded the "Firefighter III" certificate; on September 29,
211984, he achieved "Fire Apparatus Engineer"; on October 2,
221989, he earned "HazMat Technician" status; on July 7, 1989, he

1earned "Certified Instructor II"; on January 23, 1992, he
2received "Certified Fire Officer I"; on March 12, 2010, he
3earned "Hazmat Incident Command"; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary Bober earned numerous accolades from the
5Streamwood Fire Department for his meritorious service,
6including the "Disaster Service Medal" on February 28, 1999 for
7participating in 3 structure fires and the "Meritorious Service
8Award" on June 6, 1999 for rescuing a victim from a residential
9structure fire; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gary Bober and his wife, Anna, have 2 daughters,
11Tracey and Jill; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Gary Bober on the occasion of his retirement
15and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Gary Bober as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
