HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Captain Timothy J.
4Becker of the Illinois State Police on his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Captain Becker will retire on February 29, 2012;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Timothy J. Becker began his law enforcement career
8with the Menard County Sheriff's Department in 1987; he joined
9the Illinois State Police after graduating from Cadet Class #82
10in 1988; and
 
11    WHEREAS, His first patrol assignment upon graduation was in
12Illinois State Police District #3 in Chicago; his second patrol
13assignment was Illinois State Police District #9, in the
14Sangamon County area; and
 
15    WHEREAS, While in District #9, he served on the Operation
16Valkyrie Team with his K-9, "Boozer", and served on the
17Tactical Response Team; in 1996, he transferred to the Illinois
18State Police's Office of Inspection and Audits and was promoted
19to Sergeant in November; and
 
20    WHEREAS, In 1998, he was promoted to Master Sergeant; in

12001, he was transferred to the Illinois State Police's Office
2of Governmental Affairs; in 2002, he was promoted to Lieutenant
3and shortly after he was appointed to serve as the Illinois
4State Police Legislative Liaison; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In 2005, he was promoted to Captain; in 2011, he
6was appointed by Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau to
7serve as his Chief of Staff; and
 
8    WHEREAS, During his career with the Illinois State Police,
9he also served as a Motorcycle Officer; and
 
10    WHEREAS, While serving as the legislative liaison, Captain
11Becker played an instrumental role in the passage of Public Act
12095-1009, which assisted the Illinois State Police in securing
13a constant source of funding to acquire new patrol cars to
14replace aging fleet squad cars; and
 
15    WHEREAS, During his career, Captain Becker embodied the
16motto of the Illinois State Police, "Integrity, Service, and
17Pride", always putting the needs of the department first and
18working to make the department better; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we congratulate Captain Timothy Becker on his retirement and

1thank him for his years of service to the people of the State
2of Illinois; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to Captain Timothy Becker as a symbol of our respect
5and esteem.
