HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On March 27, 1912, the charter was issued for the
3DeKalb County Soil Improvement Association, which later became
4the DeKalb County Farm Bureau; and
 
5    WHEREAS, DeKalb County was one of the first counties in
6Illinois to establish the organization and hire a farm advisor
7to carry out the responsibilities of Farm Bureau work; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Henry H. Parke was one of the organizers and
9founders of Farm Bureau; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In 1917, he and others formed the DeKalb County
11Agricultural Association, a spin-off of the Soil Improvement
12Association, incorporated for the purpose of becoming engaged
13in the commercial seed business; the flying ear of corn later
14became the symbol of the DeKalb Agricultural Association; and
 
15    WHEREAS, On April 28, 1926, the DeKalb County Soil
16Improvement Association officially became the DeKalb County
17Farm Bureau; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Other associations developed out of the Farm
19Bureau, including the Farm Bureau Farm Management Association,
20Illinois Farm Supply, and Illinois Country Mutual Insurance

1Company; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4we recognize the accomplishments of the DeKalb County Farm
5Bureau and congratulate it on its 100th Anniversary; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the DeKalb County Farm Bureau as a symbol of our
9respect and esteem.
