HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former
4State Representative Roger C. Marquardt; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Representative Marquardt was born on October 23,
61936, in the Village of Lombard where, as a fifth generation
7Lombardian, he called home for the first 67 years of his life;
8he was married to Judy "Hardy" Marquardt, and had 4 children;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Representative Marquardt started his career with
11the Lombard Police Department, where he served as the deputy
12chief; after receiving his real estate license, he left the
13police department and started his own realty firm; in 1981, he
14switched careers, becoming CEO of the DuPage Airport Authority,
15which in turn sparked his interest in transportation and
16aviation leading him to his next career as the director of the
17Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of
18Aeronautics; and
 
19    WHEREAS, He later served as the Assistant to the Secretary
20of the Illinois Department of Transportation; he then founded
21Roger C. Marquardt & Company as an independent lobbyist and
22consulting firm; and

1    WHEREAS, His life was filled with numerous honors and
2accomplishments, with his biggest honor coming in 2002 when he
3was appointed to serve his hometown of Lombard in the Illinois
4House of Representatives during the latter part of the 92nd
5General Assembly; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Marquardt was a lifelong, diehard,
7Chicago White Sox and Frank Sinatra fan; he loved his hometown
8and contributed to the boards of various hospitals, banks, and
9civic organizations; as the result of his reputation for
10service, loyalty, larger-than-life personality, and devout
11love of friends and family, the village board named December
1210th Roger C. Marquardt Day; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
16former State Representative Roger C. Marquardt; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Representative Roger C. Marquardt as
20a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
