HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Diane O'Keefe on
4the occasion of her retirement after 31 years of service with
5the Illinois Department of Transportation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe served as the Deputy Director of
7Highways, District One Regional Engineer of the Illinois
8Department of Transportation; she was one of the first women in
9the State to serve as a Regional Engineer; in this capacity,
10she oversaw the largest district of the Department of
11Transportation, covering Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will, McHenry,
12and Kane Counties, including the City of Chicago; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe spent 14 years in construction
14before beginning program development and overseeing the
15preliminary engineering functions of project design, plan
16preparation, and right of way acquisition; she subsequently
17became the District 3 Engineer and oversaw all elements of the
18State highway transportation system for an 11-county area in
19North Central Illinois before returning to District One; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe earned her bachelor's degree in
21civil engineering from Michigan Technological University; she
22is a registered professional engineer in Illinois, and is a

1former recipient of the ASCE Young Government Civil Engineer of
2the Year Award, IDOT's Outstanding Service Award, IDOT's Award
3of Merit for Professional Excellence, and the 2008 APWA Chicago
4Chapter award for Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8the members of this body, in particular the women members of
9the Illinois House of Representatives, congratulate Diane
10O'Keefe on the occasion of her retirement, thank her for her
11dedication to the State of Illinois, and wish her success and
12happiness in her future endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Diane O'Keefe as a symbol of our esteem and
15respect.
