HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judy Socha for
4receiving the 2012 Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator of
5the Year Award from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood
6Centers; and
 
7    WHEREAS, In 1971, inspired by her son's illness, Judy
8hosted her first blood drive and collected her first 100 units
9of blood; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In 1976, Judy worked with the Village of Addison
11to establish the Addison Blood Commission; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As the director of the Addison Blood Commission,
13Judy has worked to involve the whole community in her efforts
14by establishing ongoing blood drives throughout the village at
15local churches, organizations, high schools, and businesses;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Judy has raised awareness of the importance of
18volunteer blood donation through countless speaking
19engagements, TV and radio appearances, and tabling at community
20events; and

1    WHEREAS, Over the past 4 decades Judy has conducted over
2225 blood drives; and
 
3    WHEREAS, One pint of blood saves 1 to 3 lives and Judy has
4been responsible for the collection of over 28,000 pints of
5blood; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Judy was recognized at a national level for her
7extraordinary efforts by winning the Americas Blood Centers'
8esteemed Larry Frederick Award; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 2012, LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center,
10nominated Judy Socha as the Most Dedicated Blood Drive
11Coordinator in a State-wide competition hosted by the Illinois
12Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we commend Judy Socha for her selfless service to her community
16for the past 40 years and for all the lives which have been
17saved because of her efforts; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Judy Socha as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
