AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1360

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1360 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 3-696 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-696 new)
7    Sec. 3-696. Corporate-sponsored license plate program.
8    (a) The Secretary of State shall develop a system for
9generating and administering corporate-sponsored license
10plates. The Secretary may enter into agreements with any
11business entity, advertising firm, or for-profit business that
12provides the Secretary the required legal documentation to use
13corporate logos on Illinois license plates; provided, however,
14that any agreement entered into under this Section must result
15in (i) a discount in registration fees; and (ii) generate
16revenue for the State.

1    (b) The special plates issued under this Section shall be
2affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division or
3motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
48,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire
5according to the multi-year procedure established by Section
63-414.1 of this Code.
7    (b) The design of corporate-sponsored license plates must
8be approved by the Secretary and the Secretary shall have the
9authority to approve or reject any design submitted under this
10subsection. Plates issued under this Section may not display
11the name or logo of more than one company. The plates may be
12issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance with
13Section 3-405.1 of this Code, but must be approved by the
14corporate sponsor and the Secretary before issuance.
15    (c) An applicant for a corporate-sponsored license plate
16shall be charged a fee for original issuance and renewal
17negotiated in accordance with the requirements of this Section,
18at a discount from the applicable registration fee. For each
19original issuance and renewal, the corporate sponsor shall be
20charged a fee negotiated in accordance with the requirements of
21this Section.
22    (d) The Secretary is not required to issue
23corporate-sponsored license plates until a sufficient number
24of applications have been received to cover the total costs of
25issuance.
26    (e) The Secretary shall adopt rules to implement the

2Section.".
