AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2527

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2527, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The Airport Authorities Act is amended by
6adding Section 8.16 as follows:
 
7    (70 ILCS 5/8.16 new)
8    Sec. 8.16. Intermodal transportation. An Authority shall
9have the power to invest in, plan, market, and otherwise
10support intermodal transportation within the area served by the
11Authority. This includes, but is not limited to, the power:
12        (1) to provide financial capital support for the
13    construction or rehabilitation of a bus, rail, or
14    intermodal station either at the airport or at a different
15    location within the authority's jurisdiction;
16        (2) to provide shuttle services from existing bus or

1    rail stations within the authority's jurisdiction to and
2    from the airport;
3        (3) to provide financial operating support to
4    intercity bus or train services; and
5        (4) to create marketing materials, including a
6    website, of the schedules of existing intercity bus and
7    train services.
8    For the purposes of this Section, "intermodal
9transportation" means intercity bus service and intercity
10passenger train service.
11    Any airport authority that wishes to apply for a federal
12grant for bus or rail services must first submit the grant to
13the Department of Transportation. If the Department has an
14objection to the grant because it is inconsistent with the
15Department's published plans for rail or bus services, the
16Department may within 30 days require the authority to amend
17the grant application as the Department directs to comport with
18the Department's published plans for rail or bus services.
19    The airport authority must submit any plans for rail or bus
20projects or services to the board of the local mass transit
21district for their input at least 90 days before the services
22or projects are to commence.".
