AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2882

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2882, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources
6(Conservation) Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois
7is amended by changing Section 805-40 as follows:
 
8    (20 ILCS 805/805-40)  (was 20 ILCS 805/63a41)
9    Sec. 805-40. Adopt-A-Park program. The Department shall
10may establish and maintain Adopt-A-Park programs with
11individual or group volunteers, if requested by an individual
12or group volunteers, in an effort to reduce and remove litter
13from parks and park lands and to provide services such as
14mowing, trail maintenance, or repair projects. The Department
15shall retain the ability to approve or deny an individual or
16group volunteer's request; however, the Department must state

1the reason for the request denial. These programs shall include
2but not be limited to the following:
3        (1) Providing and coordinating services by volunteers
4    for mowing, trail maintenance, repair projects, or to
5    reduce the amount of litter, including providing trash bags
6    and trash bag pickup and, in designated areas where
7    volunteers may be in close proximity to moving vehicles.
8    Individuals or volunteers must bring their own , providing
9    safety briefings and reflective safety gear. A collective
10    bargaining employee must be present when volunteer
11    activities are in progress.
12        (2) The Department shall provide a certificate of
13    appreciation to individual or group volunteers as
14    recognition of their Adopt-A-Park efforts at a particular
15    Department site. Providing and installing signs
16    identifying those volunteers adopting particular parks and
17    park lands.
18    The State and the Department and its employees are not
19liable for any damages or injury suffered by any person
20resulting from his or her participation in the program or from
21the actions or activities of the volunteers.

23    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24becoming law.".
