SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John L. Manthey of Joliet, who passed
4away on January 15, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Joliet on November 8, 1925; he was
6a graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1943, Joliet
7Junior College, and Drake University; he was a veteran of World
8War II, serving as a Yeoman in the United States Navy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He was a member and quartermaster of VFW Cantigny
10Post #367 and a member of the American Legion Post #1080; he
11was also a member of the Joliet Breakfast Lion's Club and four
12time Lion of the Year, a past president of St. Joe's Baseball
13League, a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association and the
14Moran Athletic Club; and he was a lifetime member of St. Peter
15Lutheran Church; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was retired from the E.J.& E. Railroad after 30
17plus years of service; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles
19and Ida Manthey; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Manthey is survived by his wife, Marion B.

1Manthey (nee, Barber); his son, Jack (Sandra) Manthey; his
2daughter, Sharon (Dave) Bojak; his grandchildren, John Reid
3Manthey, Maggie Manthey, Stephanie Manthey, and Megan Bojak;
4his brother, Lawrence (the late Lois) Manthey; and his special
5niece, Marilyn (Gus) Swineheart; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8his family and friends, the passing of John Manthey; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of John Manthey as a symbol of our
12sincere sympathy.
