2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Pastor Emeritus Warren C. Dorris, Sr. of |
4 | | Joliet, who passed away on December 27, 2010; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on March 21, 1925 to Reggie and Ivory |
6 | | Dorris in Winona, Mississippi; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, He was educated in the Winona Public School System |
8 | | and was a decorated World War II Veteran, earning a Purple |
9 | | Heart after being wounded in Belgium; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Dorris was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. |
11 | | for over 32 years; he was also one of the founding members of |
12 | | Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ; Pastor Dorris worked |
13 | | faithfully as a deacon, trustee, assistant pastor, and other |
14 | | positions for over 60 years; he loved his family and cherished |
15 | | family time and holidays; and

16 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Reggie |
17 | | and Ivory Dorris; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Samuel |
18 | | and Martha Rimpson; his brothers, Joe Flint Dorris, L.C. |
19 | | Dorris, Sr., Willie D. Dorris, and Robert L. Dorris, Sr.; his |
20 | | sisters, Ellen Waldington and Ella Mae Waldington; his |
21 | | grandchildren, Michelle Alexander Garner, Montique Mays, and |

6 | | his family, friends, and congregation, the passing of Pastor |
7 | | Emeritus Warren C. Dorris, Sr.; and be it further
|
8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
9 | | presented to the family of Pastor Emeritus Warren C. Dorris, |
10 | | Sr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
