SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. of Chicago,
4who passed away on March 14, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Dr. Chuck", he was born
6January 12, 1955 in Chicago; he attended Conant High School
7where he played basketball, ran cross-country, and was in the
8National Honor Society, graduating in 1973; he then attended
9Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida where, as a
10pre-med major, he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon
11Fraternity and served as President of Green Key, a resident
12assistant in the dorms, and as aid to Dr. Norman P. Crawford
13for the St. Johns Dinner Club; and
 
14    WHEREAS, While in college, he met his wife, Linda Stinnett;
15following his graduation with honors in 1977, he attended
16Balliol College, Oxford University on a Rotary Fellowship in
17England, where he earned a Graduate Degree in Human Biology;
18while at Oxford University, he played basketball and earned his
19Blue when their team won the 1978 National Basketball
20Championship; he then returned to the United States where he
21attended medical school at the University of Florida; after his
22first year of medical school, he and Linda were joyfully united
23in marriage on July 28, 1979; and

1    WHEREAS, He graduated from medical school in 1982 and did
2his residency as a Family Physician at the St. Vincent's Family
3Practice in Jacksonville, Florida; in 1986, he finished his
4residency program and practiced as a Family Physician in
5Jacksonville; while working fulltime as a family doctor he
6earned his MBA at Jacksonville University; and
 
7    WHEREAS, In 1989, the Musfeldt family moved to
8Naperville,where Dr. Chuck worked as a medical health care
9consultant with Ernst and Young; after a few years, Dr. Chuck
10opened his own consulting firm helping hospitals, clinics,
11doctors, and administrators develop more cost effective ways to
12practice medicine; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In Chicago, Dr. Chuck started an amazing new
14adventure, accepting the invitation of a man at church to
15attend a Bible Study Fellowship class; he served as a
16Discussion Leader in his BSF Class; he loved gathering each
17week with over 100 men to talk about their lessons, worship
18God, and learn about the Bible passage from the Teaching
19Leader; he later began his involvement in the high school youth
20programs, working with freshman boys and continuing through
21their senior year; and
 
22    WHEREAS, It was during this time that Dr. Chuck was asked

1to accept a new position in San Antonio, Texas, at the
2Headquarters of BSF as Director of International Operations; in
3June 2004, the Musfeldts relocated to San Antonio where Dr.
4Chuck worked with more than 130 BSF classes outside of North
5America; he and his wife, Linda, traveled to cities around the
6world to encourage the International BSF classes and to pray
7with people interested in developing new BSF classes; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Charles
9and his mother, Ann; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. is survived by his
11cherished helpmate and best friend, Linda; his beautiful
12daughters, Miranda and Laura (Caleb Walker); his beloved
13granddaughter and playmate, Dakota; his brother, Gene (Linda)
14White; and countless friends and family around the world;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt,
19Jr.; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. as a
22symbol of our sincere sympathy.
