SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald R. Herson of Stephenson, Michigan,
4formerly of North Chicago, who passed away on October 27, 2011;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was born on Mother's Day, May 8, 1938, in
7Menominee, Michigan; he graduated from Menominee High School in
81956; after high school, he moved to North Chicago, where he
9married Sally Brown and raised his family; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He volunteered for the North Chicago Fire
11Department and worked full time for the Waukegan News Sun; he
12was a member of the Jaycees and dabbled in North Chicago
13politics; he founded Vogue Printers in the mid 1960s; he
14successfully made a career in the printing field and retired in
15the early 1990s; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was adventurous and was able to participate in
17the Great American Race, a cross country road rally, for 3
18years, once in a 1931 Rolls Royce and twice in his favored 1924
19Seagrave Fire truck; he enjoyed working on his class reunions,
20where he was blessed to have met his present wife, Lois; they
21married in 2004; and

1    WHEREAS, He returned to Stephenson, Michigan upon
2retirement and enjoyed traveling the world and spending winters
3in Sun City West, Arizona, hunting at The Farm and his passion
4for antique automobiles; he recently accepted the Lord as His
5Savior and spent his last days surrounded by loving family and
6supportive friends; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Donald Herson is survived by his amazing wife,
8Lois; his previous wife, Sally; his children, Tamilyn Beckner,
9Valerie Grosskopf, Sherri (Art) Arizmendi, Brian (Kathy), and
10Jef; his grandchildren, Allen and Jennifer Beckner, Brad and
11Eric Grosskopf, Katie, Tony, Heather, and Kevin Herson, and
12Artie, Andrew, Alex, Anakin, and Aiden Arizmendi; his
13son-in-law, Ray Beckner; his special sons, Alan Kalinoski and
14Mark Jasper; and his special friends, Paul Bromund and Ted
15Richter; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18his family and friends, the passing of Donald Herson; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Donald Herson as a symbol of our
22sincere sympathy.
