SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John M. "Jack" Geraghty of Plainfield,
4who passed away on November 10, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born and raised on the Northwest side of
6Chicago and graduated from St. Pascal's Elementary School and
7St. Patrick's High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was a Veteran of the United States Army and
9served in the Philippines at the end of World War II; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He was a Sergeant with the Chicago Police
11Department and charter member of the Sergeant Association; he
12was a realtor with Century 21 and Remax and an accomplished
13home builder and renovater; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He will be remembered as a loving husband, father,
15grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to many; he was the true
16"Chairman of the Board" and enjoyed a good laugh, a cold pint,
17and a great story; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Geraghty was the loving husband and best
19friend of 60 years to Donna, nee Kenealy; the devoted father of
20Colleen (Michael) Lowery, Jack (Peggy), Daniel (Diane), Mary

1(James) Redding, Patrick (Kathleen), Eileen (Patrick) Brassil,
2Kathleen (Nigel) McGrath, and Thomas (Alesa); the proud Papa of
3Erin (Michael) Griggs, Michael, Matthew (Caroline), Daniel,
4and James Lowery; Daniel, Kelly, and Timothy Geraghty;
5Catherine, Megan, Terese, and Jennifer Geraghty; Jack, Terry,
6and Conor Redding; Flynn Geraghty; Patrick, Bridget, and Kevin
7Brassil; Peadar and Liam McGrath; Justin, Brendan, Mikaela,
8Ryan, and Owen Geraghty; the dear brother of the late Kevin
9(Carol), Michael, and Kathleen (Ken) Younkin; the cherished son
10of the late Nora, nee Costello and the late Michael Geraghty;
11and the loving cousin "Johnny" of many; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of John Geraghty; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of John Geraghty as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
