SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Captain Nathan
4R. McHone of Crystal Lake, who passed away on January 19, 2012
5in Helmand Province, Afghanistan; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Capt. Nathan McHone graduated from Crystal Lake
7South High School in 2001; he subsequently attended Western
8Michigan University, where he dreamed of becoming a pilot; in
92005, he joined the United States Marine Corps to log more
10flight time; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Capt. Nathan McHone reported to Basic School in
12Quantico, Virginia in 2005; he then went to Naval Aviation
13Command in Pensacola, Florida as an entry-level student, where
14he served for 2 years and earned the rank of first lieutenant
15in 2007; he was then assigned to the Heavy Marine Helicopter
16Training-302 squadron, Marine Aircraft Group-29, as a student
17pilot in Jacksonville, North Carolina; he later reported for
18duty with MAG-24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, in Kaneohe Bay,
19Hawaii, as a Basic CH-53 pilot; he was later promoted to the
20rank of captain; in October of 2009, he was transferred to
21Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron-363, Marine Aircraft
22Group-24, 1st MAW, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he remained until
23his passing; and

1    WHEREAS, Capt. Nathan McHone was the recipient of 2 Air
2Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the
3National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign
4Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the NATO
5Medal for his meritorious service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Capt. Nathan McHone is survived by his parents,
7Ronald and Sylvia McHone; his brother, Ben McHone (Kayc); his
8sister, Stephanie (Kwadwo) Oduro; and his niece, Harper McHone;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine
13Corps Captain Nathan R. McHone; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Capt. Nathan McHone
15and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him
16making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Capt. Nathan McHone as an expression
19of our sympathy.
