SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John C. Winkelman of Marengo, who passed
4away on April 12, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Winkelman was born on February 12, 1958, in
6Belvidere; his parents were Melvin and Marialyce (Lowe)
7Winkelman; he married Lynn Nepstad on July 29, 1995, in
8Huntley; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Winkelman was raised in Marengo and graduated
10from Marengo Community High School in 1976; he was a part of
11the Marengo Rescue Squad for 18 years, where he earned the
12title of chief; he served as a volunteer firefighter for the
13Huntley Fire Department for 3 years before becoming a full-time
14employee in 1991; he eventually worked his way to the rank of
15captain; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Winkelman enjoyed riding his motorcycle,
17fishing, animals, and spending time with his family; in his
18spare time, he served as the caretaker at Barber Cemetery; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Winkelman was preceded in death by his
20parents; and

1    WHEREAS, John Winkelman is survived by his wife, Lynn; his
2daughters, Sherie (Nolan) ONeil, Tara (Jerremy) Swafford, and
3Julie Winkelman; his stepsons, Matthew and Richard Altepeter;
4his grandchildren, Samantha, Morgan, Elijah, Avery, Chloe,
5Lilliana, and Chase; his brother, Joe Winkelman; his
6mother-in-law, Jean Nepstad; his many nieces, nephews,
7cousins, and close friends; and his brothers and sisters at the
8fire and rescue departments he served; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of John C. Winkelman; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of John Winkelman as an expression of
15our sympathy.
