SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of DeWayne Clinton Bartels of
4Peoria, who passed away on July 27, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, DeWayne Bartels was born on September 26, 1958, in
6Pekin, to Clifford Clinton and Virginia Mae (Rains) Bartels; he
7married Melody Ann Switzer on May 24, 1980; and
 
8    WHEREAS, DeWayne Bartels was an editor, writer, and
9reporter, for the East Peoria Times-Courier; he also worked for
10the Peoria Times-Observer, Pekin Daily Times, Tazwell
11Publishing, the Woodford County Times, and Kewanee
12Cost-Cutter; he worked for Morton Buildings for 3 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, DeWayne Bartels was a member of the Illinois Press
14Association, the Peoria Astronomical Society, and was an
15ambassador for the NASA Solar System Ambassadors Program; he
16received numerous awards over the years for his writing and
17enjoyed hiking, astronomy, and time with his family; and
 
18    WHEREAS, DeWayne Bartels was preceded in death by his
19parents, Clifford and Virginia Mae Clinton; and
 
20    WHEREAS, DeWayne Bartels is survived by his wife, Melody

1Ann; his sons, Wesley, Bailey, Dylan, and Dustin (Nicole); his
2daughter, Brandy; his brother, Steven (Barbara); and 14
3grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
6DeWayne Bartels, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
11sympathy.
