SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Nancy C. Runkel of
4Springfield, who passed away on June 3, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Runkel was born in Chicago on November 15,
61930, to Louis and Gertrude Sunde Due; she married Charles E.
7Runkel on July 18, 1953, in Jacksonville; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Nancy Runkel was a 1949 graduate of Jacksonville
9High School and attended Hardin-Brown Business College; she and
10her mother owned and operated Newell's Clothing Store on the
11square in Jacksonville for over 25 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Nancy Runkel was a member of Grace United
13Methodist Church and was an active member of the Jacksonville
14Area Chamber of Commerce; she was a member of the Hospitaller
15Commandery #31 Ladies Auxiliary, the Jacksonville Symphony
16Chorale, and was a volunteer at the State Police Museum in
17Springfield; she was an avid bowler, loved music, and was proud
18of her Norwegian heritage; she and her husband Charles traveled
19extensively throughout the U.S.; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Nancy Runkel was preceded in death by her husband,
21Charles Runkel and her brother, Charles Due; and

1    WHEREAS, Nancy Runkel is survived by her children, Gerhardt
2(Pamela) Runkel, Chris (Stephen) Shafer, and Eric (Rhonda Wood)
3Runkel; her 6 grandchildren; her 7 great-grandchildren; and her
4brother, Don Due; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Nancy Runkel, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Nancy Runkel as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
