SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Richard Joseph "Rick" Steger
4of East Moline, who passed away on September 18, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Steger was born on June 12, 1953, in Rock
6Island to Valentine and Dorothy Gibbons Steger; he graduated
7from Western Illinois University and served in the U.S. Air
8Force during the Vietnam War; he married Elizabeth Kurtz
9Perreira on April 23, 2005, in Rock Island; he was a welder at
10John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 36 years; he
11retired in 2009; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Steger was a past Chef De Gare and a 23
13year member of 40 and 8 Voiture 433 in Annawan, a member of the
14Colona American Legion, Ex-Servicemen's Club, and UAW Local
15865; he enjoyed camping, showing his classic El Caminos and
16driving them in parades for political campaigns, spending time
17with his daughters and grandchildren, and was a "jack of all
18trades" except plumbing; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Steger was preceded in death by his
20parents, Valentine and Dorothy Gibbons Steger; his brother,
21Fred Steger and his wife, Barbara; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Steger is survived by his wife, Liz
2Steger; his daughters, Carey (Allen) Mayer and Valerie Kate
3Steger; his step-son, Dan (Monica) Perreira; his
4grandchildren, Conrad and Katherine Mayer and Salina, Leilana,
5and Maile Perreira; his siblings, La Vaun (Gerry) Davis, Mike
6(Pat) Steger, Tim (Patsy) Steger, and Linda (Jim) Bussey;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Richard Steger, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Richard Steger as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
