SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Ted C. Peterson of O'Fallon,
4who passed away on September 15, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was born on December 11, 1946, in
6Inglewood, California, to Thyrill Austin and Ruth Frances
7Peterson; he was married to Sue Ann Peterson (Smith) for 45
8years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force
10Special Forces; his distinguished military service included
11being an expert marksman on the AF Command Rifle Team and
12leading numerous covert operations in Libya and Vietnam; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson had a long and respected 33-year
14career as division sales manager with RJ Reynolds; he mentored
15many young colleagues and was able to bring out the best in his
16employees; he retired in 2002; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson traveled extensively during his
18retirement with his wife; he was a gifted woodworker; he had a
19love and appreciation for history and geography, and most
20enjoyed the high deserts of the western United States; and

1    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was preceded in death by his parents,
2Thyrill Austin and Ruth Frances (Richards) Peterson and his
3brothers, Gary and Bruce Peterson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ted Peterson is survived by his wife, Sue Ann; his
5sons, Ted (Anne) Peterson Jr. and Dennis Peterson; his brother,
6Don (Kathy) Peterson; his sister, Kathy Gatrel; his
7grandchildren, Julius, Quinn, Regan, Marin, and Hayden; his
8brother-in-law, Retired USN Capt. John C. (Carol) Smith; his
9sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Dr. Philip) Kahlert; and his nieces and
10nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Ted Peterson, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Ted Peterson as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
