SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roberta J. "Bert" Griffin of Bloomington,
4who passed away on July 19, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was born on April 13, 1928, in
6Bloomington; she was the daughter of William Herman and Lula
7Mae Miller Knecht; she married Charles J. Griffin on June 26,
81949, in Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was employed as a real estate
10broker; after receiving her real estate license in 1960 and her
11broker's license in 1961; she became the owner and operator of
12Cardinal Real Estate in Normal, where she worked from 1961 to
131978; she subsequently relocated to Weaver and Associates
14Realtors for 17 years and later Brady & Associates, Brady Real
15Estate, where she worked until her retirement in 2009; she was
16also part owner of Variety Liquors and Cave Lounge from 1977 to
171983; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin served as president of
19Bloomington-Normal Association of Realtors in 1970, 1980, and
201991; she was designated as Realtor of the Year in 1986 and the
21State of Illinois' Associate of the Year in 1986; she also
22served as treasurer and vice president of the Real Estate

1Political Action Committee, among many other boards and
2committees; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was a member of Trinity Lutheran
4Church in Bloomington; she enjoyed playing cards, including
5bridge, euchre, and gin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin was preceded in death by her
7parents; her 3 brothers; her sister; and her guardian, Alma
8Langhoff; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Roberta Griffin is survived by her daughters,
10Judith K. (William) Henderson, Nancy J. Griffin, and Connie S.
11(Mark McIntosh); her grandchildren, Melanie (Shannon) Seelig,
12Wil (Gary Lee Miller) Henderson, John (Emily) Henderson,
13Lindsay Henderson, Lane Lampert, Lauren Lampert, and Lyssa
14Lampert; and her great-grandchildren, Payton Jane "P.J."
15Fuller and Katelyn and Carson Seelig; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18her family and friends, the passing of Roberta J. "Bert"
19Griffin; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Roberta Griffin as an expression of
