SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Karen Marie Hollis of
4Rockford, who passed away on December 10, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Karen Hollis was born on November 21, 1964, in
6Chicago to Thomas and Nancy (Fuscone) Foley; she married Scott
7Hollis on October 7, 1988; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Karen Hollis enjoyed pizza and Bingo nights at the
9independent multiple intelligences school, where she was the
10board president; she enjoyed reading, skiing, attending her
11children's swimming events, and traveling with her family; she
12was involved in an ongoing campaign to raise $850,000 to
13upgrade Spectrum Progressive School's exterior and to expand
14the school by buying additional property; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Karen Hollis had been with the Rockford Health
16Systems for more than 25 years and was a member of the REACT
17Flight Team; it was during the discharge of her duties for
18REACT that she and fellow flight nurse Jim Dillow, and pilot
19Andrew Olesen, perished when they encountered bad weather on
20route to pick up a critically ill patient; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Karen Hollis was preceded in death by her father,

1Thomas Foley and mother-in-law, Carol Ellis; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Karen Hollis is survived by her husband, Scott;
3her daughters, Sydney Marie and Samantha Carol; her dog,
4Reggie; her mother, Nancy Foley; her sisters, Cathleen (Scott)
5Person, Linda (John) Timm, and Nancy (Jim) Appell; her
6brothers, Tom (Carol) Foley and John (Colette) Foley; her
7father-in-law, Charles Ellis; her nieces and nephews, Ryan,
8Michael, Kelsey, Jennifer, Ethan, Shaun, Kevin, Brenden, Erin,
9Franchesca, Jack, Ariana, Joshua, and Annalisa; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Karen Hollis, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Karen Hollis as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
