SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1805/13.5

    Amends the Military Code of Illinois. Deletes a provision that creates within the Department of Military Affairs an honorary regiment of Colonels known as the Governor's Regiment and that provides that the Governor, from time to time as necessary, may appoint individuals to the Regiment with the honorary title of Colonel whose accomplishments, achievements, or service have contributed to the fellowship and goodwill of the State. Provides instead that the Department of Military Affairs shall establish by rule a recognition program to allow the Governor or the Adjutant General to recognize individuals or organizations who have contributed to the advancement of the Illinois National Guard. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Military Code of Illinois is amended by
5changing Section 13.5 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 1805/13.5)
7    Sec. 13.5. Illinois Patriot Law.
8    (a) Short title. This Section may be cited as the Illinois
9Patriot Law.
10    (b) The Department of Military Affairs shall establish by
11rule a recognition program to allow the Governor or the
12Adjutant General to recognize individuals or organizations who
13have contributed to the advancement of the Illinois National
14Guard. Governor's Regiment. There is created within the
15Department of Military Affairs an honorary regiment of Colonels
16to be known as the Governor's Regiment. The Governor, from time
17to time as necessary, may appoint individuals to the Regiment
18with the honorary title of Colonel whose accomplishments,
19achievements, or service have contributed to the fellowship and
20goodwill of the State of Illinois.
