| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4096

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4096 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | changing Section 12C-50 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (720 ILCS 5/12C-50) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 12C-50. Hazing. | ||||||
| 8 | (a) A person commits hazing when he or she knowingly | ||||||
| 9 | performs an act, or causes a situation, that recklessly or | ||||||
| 10 | intentionally subjects requires the
performance of
any act by a | ||||||
| 11 | student or other person in a school, college, university, or | ||||||
| 12 | other
educational institution of this State, to the risk of | ||||||
| 13 | bodily harm for the purpose of induction or
admission into any | ||||||
| 14 | group, organization, or society associated or connected with
| ||||||
| 15 | that institution, if: | ||||||
| 16 | (1) the act or situation is not sanctioned or | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | authorized by that educational institution;
and | ||||||
| 2 | (2) the act results in bodily harm to any person. | ||||||
| 3 | (b) Sentence. Hazing is a Class A misdemeanor, except that | ||||||
| 4 | hazing that
results in death or great bodily harm is a Class 4 | ||||||
| 5 | felony.
