SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 705/3  from Ch. 85, par. 503

    Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Increases the size of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from 20 members to 26 members by adding the Cook County Medical Examiner, 2 Illinois county board chairs, 2 Illinois county coroners from counties other than Cook County, and one active member of a statewide association representing coroners.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 26 20 members
9selected as follows: The Attorney General of the State of
10Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of
11Corrections, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
12Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Cook County Medical
13Examiner, the Director of the Illinois Police Training
14Institute, the Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield,
15Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
16Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, and the following to
17be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of
18Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois county board chairs, 2
19Illinois county sheriffs from counties other than Cook County,
202 Illinois county coroners from counties other than Cook
21County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 chiefs of
22municipal police departments in Illinois having no
23Superintendent of the Police Department on the Board, 2

1citizens of Illinois who shall be members of an organized
2enforcement officers' association, one active member of a
3statewide association representing sheriffs, one active member
4of a statewide association representing coroners, and one
5active member of a statewide association representing
6municipal police chiefs. The appointments of the Governor shall
7be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of the
8appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years, and
93 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
10manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
11years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
12respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
13shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.
