CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

Proposes to amend the Legislature Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that, for a term of office beginning on or after the date the amendment is declared adopted, a General Assembly member shall receive a salary in an amount equal to the salary that a General Assembly member was entitled to receive on the date the amendment is declared adopted. Prohibits that amount from being increased thereafter except by constitutional amendment or initiative. Effective upon being declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois Constitutional Amendment Act.

| 13 | | SECTION 11. COMPENSATION AND ALLOWANCES
|
| 14 | | (a) A member shall receive a salary and allowances as |
| 15 | | provided by law, but
changes in the salary of a member shall |
| 16 | | not take effect during the term
for which he has been elected.

| 17 | | (b) Notwithstanding subsection (a), for a term of office |
| 18 | | beginning on or after the date this subsection (b) is declared |
| 19 | | adopted, a member shall receive a salary in an amount equal to |
| 20 | | the salary that a member was entitled to receive on the date |
| 21 | | this subsection (b) is declared adopted, and that amount shall |
| 22 | | not thereafter be increased unless by the affirmative vote of |
| 23 | | the People of the State in accordance with Section 2 or 3 of |
