| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Christopher Sverre |
| 4 | | Norborg and Susan Jacobson Norborg on the occasion of their |
| 5 | | 50th wedding anniversary; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Susan Norborg grew up in Chicago on Sawyer Avenue |
| 7 | | just north of Foster; she is the eldest child of Alice and |
| 8 | | Roland "Jake" Jacobson and the big sister to Sally and Richard; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Chris Norborg grew up with his parents, Sverre and |
| 11 | | Erna Norborg, and his older brother, Tony, in Chicago's Logan |
| 12 | | Square next door to the Norwegian Lutheran Church Minnekirken, |
| 13 | | where Sverre served as pastor; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Chris and Susan Norborg met in 1954 as high school |
| 15 | | freshman at North Park Academy on the grounds of North Park |
| 16 | | University; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Susan Norborg excelled at North Park, graduating |
| 18 | | in the top 10% of her class and leading the cheerleading squad; |
| 19 | | and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Chris Norborg's athletic exploits in high school |
|

| 1 | | are legendary, particularly in basketball, where he earned the |
| 2 | | nickname "No Shot Norborg" in recognition of the fact that |
| 3 | | there was no shot he could not make; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, After being named "Ideal North Park Boy and Girl" |
| 5 | | as seniors in 1958, Chris Norborg went on to Northwestern |
| 6 | | University and Susan Norborg went to Lake Forest College; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The couple graduated from college in 1962 and |
| 8 | | married on July 6, 1963; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Susan Norborg subsequently began a career as an |
| 10 | | elementary school teacher and Chris Norborg entered medical |
| 11 | | school at the University of Illinois in Chicago; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Upon graduation from medical school, Chris |
| 13 | | Norborg completed his residency at Cook County Hospital |
| 14 | | providing care to countless Chicagoans; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Chris Norborg retired in 2009 after 38 years as an |
| 16 | | obstetrician/gynecologist, having delivered more than 8,000 |
| 17 | | babies; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Chris and Susan Norborg are the proud parents of 3 |
| 19 | | children, Jennifer, Chris, and Heather Norborg, and the |
| 20 | | delighted grandparents of 6 grandchildren, Freya and Theo |

| 1 | | Trefonides, Domingo and Amalia Norborg, and Lucy and Ingrid |
| 2 | | Kennedy; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Susan and Chris Norborg now devote their days |
| 4 | | enjoying their family, traveling, singing in a symphonic choir, |
| 5 | | playing golf, and - as true North Siders - rooting for the |
| 6 | | Cubs; therefore, be it
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 8 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 9 | | we congratulate Chris and Susan Norborg on their 50th wedding |
| 10 | | anniversary and wish them many more happy years together; and |
| 11 | | be it further
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 13 | | presented to Christopher Sverre Norborg and Susan Jacobson |
| 14 | | Norborg as an expression of our esteem and respect.
