1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, Law enforcement definitely can be a family affair;

3 and

4 WHEREAS, There are 7 first-generation female cousins in the

5 Chicago Police Department who are descendants of Diane Carli;

6 these cousins have prided themselves in being Chicago's Finest

7 and in their strong family bond; and

8 WHEREAS, Former State Representative Dena M. Carli (Star

9 #1067, Appointed March 8, 1999), Police Officer Lisa D. Carli

10 (Star #6854, Appointed May 2, 1994), Police Officer Kimberly

11 Valenti (Star #16125, Appointed December 14, 1998), Police

12 Officer Ramona Bedoy (Star #18228, Appointed July 12, 1999),

13 Police Officer Michelle Moreno (Star #13367, Appointed

14 February 28, 2000), Police Officer Venus Rodriguez (Star

15 #12474, Appointed October 10, 2000), and Police Officer Cheryl

16 Ruiz (Star #12368, Appointed December 16, 2009) are all proud

17 members of the Chicago Police Department and of the same

18 extended family; and

19 WHEREAS, The mission of the Chicago Police Department is,

20 as part of, and empowered by, the community, committed to

21 protect the lives, property, and rights of all people, to

22 maintain order, and to enforce the law impartially; to provide

1 quality police service in partnership with other members of the

2 community; to fulfill their mission, they strive to attain the

3 highest degree of ethical behavior and professional conduct at

4 all times; and

5 WHEREAS, The core values of the Chicago Police Department

6 are professionalism, obligation, leadership, integrity,

7 courage, and excellence; and

8 WHEREAS, The bond that these 7 family members hold with

9 each other is reflected in the anonymous quote: "Cousin to

10 Cousin we'll always be, special friends from the same family

11 tree"; therefore, be it

12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

13 NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

14 we recognize these individuals for making their commitment to

15 the Chicago Police Department and their community a family

16 affair; and be it further

17 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be

18 presented to Dena M. Carli, Lisa D. Carli, Kimberly Valenti,

19 Ramona Bedoy, Michelle Moreno, Venus Rodriguez, and Cheryl Ruiz

20 as an expression of our esteem and respect.
