HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Roger Clawson of
4Moline on receiving the Alumni Achievement Award from Western
5Illinois University; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Roger Clawson is a 1977 graduate of Western
7Illinois University; he has been a local State Farm Insurance
8agent since 1982 and prior to that, had a successful 5-year
9stint with David Weiner and Associates real estate firm; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Roger Clawson has been a member of the Moline
11Little League Board for 21 years, and has been on the Moline
12Park Board since 2000, serving as President for 10 years; he
13helped oversee renovations of Greenvalley Park, which resulted
14in Moline hosting 5 national Amateur Softball Association of
15America girls softball tournaments, resulting in millions of
16tourism dollars for the Quad Cities; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Roger Clawson was appointed by Governor Quinn to
18the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees in 2013 and
19has served as a member of the Western Illinois University
20Alumni Council since 2001, including a term as President from
212010-2012; he founded the council's Alumni Legacy Program; and

1    WHEREAS, Roger Clawson also served on Senator Mike Jacob's
2Blue Ribbon Committee that was instrumental in the development
3of the Western Illinois University-Quad Cites Riverfront
4Campus; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Clawson and many other Western Illinois
6University graduates come to find a natural pull to settle in
7the Quad Cities area after their time on the Macomb campus;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate Roger Clawson on receiving the Alumni
12Achievement Award from Western Illinois University and wish him
13the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Roger Clawson as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
