HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Latonia
4Dunkin, who passed away on February 2, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Latonia Dunkin was born on May 6, 1967 in East St.
6Louis to Carol Dunkin and Joseph Johnson; she attended the
7Edward Jenner Elementary Academy of the Arts and Near North
8Career Metropolitan High School where she majored in wood shop;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Latonia Dunkin attended the Cannella School of
11Hair Design and became a hair stylist; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Latonia Dunkin enjoyed singing, dancing, and
13joking around; she loved playing with her nephews and nieces
14and spending time with her grandchildren and "newlawell", her
15granddaughter; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Latonia Dunkin was preceded in death by her
17father; her grandmother, Gertie Dunkin; her uncles, Alfred and
18Keith Dunkin; her aunt, Augusta Smith; her cousin, Amerise
19Smith; and her mother-in-law, Betty Newman; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Latonia Dunkin is survived by her mother; her

1childhood sweetheart, Charles Newman, Sr.; her son, Charles
2Newman, Jr.; her daughters, Kanika and Chareese; her
3grandchildren, Deonna Bullock and Kayden Bullock; her sisters,
4Latasha Dunkin and Quiana Newman; her brothers, Joseph, State
5Representative Ken (Yolanda), Ruben, and Michael; her
6step-brothers and step-sisters; her aunt, Edith Moore; her
7uncle, William Dunkin; her sister-in-law, Yolanda Dunkin; her
8nieces and nephews, Sacha, Lashawn, Michael Jr., Kendall,
9Jaylen, M'kiyah, Kennedy, Antwan, Makayla, Michael, and
10Ahmajay; and her best friends, Lisa Springfield and Wilma
11Barners; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Latonia Dunkin, and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Latonia Dunkin as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
