HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dwight Baird,
4Village of Oswego Chief of Police, for receiving the 2014
5Police Chief of the Year Award from the Illinois State Crime
6Commission Board; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird was awarded Police Chief of the
8Year because of his dedication to combating crime through
9proven experience and professionalism, which he has committed
10to the residents of the Village of Oswego; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has dedicated 23 years of
12service to law enforcement, 11 of which he has served as Chief
13of Police in the Village of Oswego, where he is known for
14reducing crime through community crime prevention, fiscal
15accountability, and procuring the necessary tools for
16protecting the residents of Oswego; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has proven to be a leader in
18law enforcement by educating himself and his staff on the
19newest updated technology and policies available to law
20enforcement; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird's leadership and devotion to

1law enforcement has earned the Oswego Police Department
2National Accreditation from the National Board of Commission on
3Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which is a
4performance level that only 3% of departments nationwide have
5achieved; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird received his Bachelor's Degree
7in Criminal Justice from Aurora University and his Master's
8Degree in Law Enforcement Justice Administration from Western
9Illinois University; he is also a graduate of the Federal
10Bureau of Investigations National Academy; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird is the only son of Thomas and
12Marilyn Baird and the father of Bobby Baird; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we congratulate Dwight Baird for receiving the 2014 Police
16Chief of the Year Award from the Illinois State Crime
17Commission Board and commend him for his dedication and
18selfless commitment to law enforcement and the residents of the
19Village of Oswego and the professionalism he instills upon his
20staff; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Police Chief Dwight Baird as a symbol of our
