HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Alan
4Harold Joens, Sr. of Park Forest, who passed away on March 29,
52014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was born in Chicago on August 14,
71961 to Vernon and Barbara Joens; he graduated from Curie High
8School; in 1997 he married Mary Kay Joens and relocated to Park
9Forest; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. served on the board and as a field
11director of PONY Baseball and as Chairman of the Park Forest
12Baseball League; he was actively involved in youth sports
13including coaching, umpiring, refereeing, and fundraising; he
14was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. always had a special place in his
17heart for individuals with disabilities; in 2012, he created
18the first Day of Champions, a day in which children with
19various types of disabilities could come out to the ball field
20and work with the coaches from Park Forest Baseball; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was preceded in death by his

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was the beloved husband of 17
3years to Mary Kay Joens (nee Graefnitz); the loving father of
4Alan Harold Joens, Jr. "A.J."; the dear brother of Vernon
5Joens, Jr. and Cindy (Richard) Wendel; the cherished uncle of
6Addy Wendel; and the dear son-in-law of William (Marlene)
7Graefnitz; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Alan Harold Joens, Sr., and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Alan Joens, Sr. as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
