HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul A.
4Lutter of Chicago, who passed away on May 4, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Lutter was born on February 28, 1946; he
6earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Carleton College
7in Northfield, Minnesota, where he graduated magna cum laude
8and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; he received his Juris
9Doctor from Yale University Law School in 1971; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Paul Lutter returned to Chicago following
11graduation and joined Ross & Hardies LLP, staying there through
12the firm's merger with McGuireWoods LLP; in 2004, he joined the
13firm Bryan, Cave LLP; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Paul Lutter was well-known for his philanthropic
15support of the LGBT and arts communities; he was instrumental
16in the founding of the Howard Brown Health Center which opened
17on October 4, 1997 with Mr. Lutter serving as board president;
18the center provides health and social services to more than
1918,000 people every year at its 5 Chicago-area locations;
20residents visit every day for inexpensive medical care, free
21HIV testing, and other sensitive clinical work; and

1    WHEREAS, Paul Lutter also served on the boards of the
2American Civil Liberties Union, the Roger Baldwin Foundation,
3the Chicago chapter of Design Industries Foundation Fighting
4AIDS, and Dance For Life; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Lutter was the beloved son of the late
6Herbert W. and Lois M. (nee Muller) Lutter; the brother to
7Janet Sperry and Steve (Kathy) Lutter; and uncle to Scott,
8Lynsey, Jack, and Matt; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Paul A. Lutter, and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Paul Lutter as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
