HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bishop Dr.
4Reginald J. Saffo on the occasion of his 19th anniversary at
5United Faith Missionary Baptist Church; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo's education includes: an Honors
7Associate's Degree in Arts and a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree
8from Aspen Christian College, a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree
9from Governors State University, and a Master of Arts and
10Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Ministry from Aspen Christian
11Seminary; he also has completed specialized certification
12studies with the Evangelical Teacher Training Association,
13Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and The Stephen Oxford
14Center for Biblical Preaching; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo worked several years in
16transportation management with the BNSF Railway Company; he now
17serves United Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo works for community betterment
19through his leadership, affiliations, and partnership with the
20Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle Transition Team, the
21Cook County Land Bank Board of Directors, and the Bellwood
22Library Board; he served as the Executive Director of the

1Proviso Township Minister's Alliance Network, Executive
2Director of Proviso Action Committee, and Executive Director of
3Interfaith Illinois; he is a member of the Chicago Bar
4Association (Interfaith Committee), the Chicago Neighborhood
5Initiative Advisory Board (Park National Bank), founder of the
6Proviso Township Business Association, founder and Chancellor
7of United Faith Christian Institute and Bible College, and
8Regional Director of Aspen Theological Seminary Denver,
9Colorado; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo is a recipient of the NAACP Medal of
11Freedom award; he is the publisher of "Christian Formation
12Principles", a text guide in the structured study of the Bible;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo is married with 2 children, and
15resides in Bellwood; he is a native Georgian and served our
16country in the United States Air Force; and
 
17    WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Bishop Saffo's 19th
18anniversary will be held June 8, 2014 at United Faith
19Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we congratulate Bishop Dr. Reginald J. Saffo on his 19th
