2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jordan |
4 | | Lewis of Carterville, who passed away on October 17, 2013 at |
5 | | his home in Carterville; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis was born on June 11, 1998 in |
7 | | Carbondale; his parents were Tina (nee Green) Lewis and Bradley |
8 | | Lewis; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis was a sophomore at Carterville High |
10 | | School, where he played football and worked hard on his |
11 | | studies; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis enjoyed cheering for the Chicago |
13 | | Bears with his dad and spending time with his friends and |
14 | | family; with these things in mind, he was memorialized with a |
15 | | Bears-themed service in Marion, where friends and family came |
16 | | to say goodbye; his father wore a Chicago Bears tie, and |
17 | | bouquets of orange and blue flowers adorned the funeral home; |
18 | | and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis left us too soon; the 15 year-old |
20 | | high school student faced overwhelming pressure at school due |
21 | | to bullying; in his suicide note, he blamed bullying as the |

1 | | cause for his actions; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis was preceded in death by his paternal |
3 | | grandfather, Roger Lewis; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Lewis is survived by his parents; a |
5 | | brother, Kyle Lewis; a sister, Deeanna Lewis; his paternal |
6 | | grandmother, Rita Miller; a step-grandmother, Juanita Lewis; |
7 | | his maternal grandfather, Bob (Joyce); his maternal |
8 | | grandmother, Cheryl (Roger) Rains; his maternal |
9 | | great-grandmother, Joyce Green; 2 uncles, Phillip Lewis and Tom |
10 | | Green; an aunt, Linda Lewis; an aunt and uncle, Teresa and Adam |
11 | | Coleman; and several cousins and friends; therefore, be it
|
12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
13 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
14 | | we mourn the passing of Jordan Lewis and extend our sincere |
15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
16 | | him; and be it further

17 | | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Jordan Lewis, who |
18 | | serves as a reminder of the severe consequences that bullying |
19 | | can have, and urge the people of this State to treat others |
20 | | with the respect, kindness, and love Jordan Lewis and all of us |
