SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 2605/11.15  from Ch. 42, par. 331.15

    Amends Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Act. Provides that persons employed by the sanitary district must be a United States citizen, a national of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an individual who has been granted asylum. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Act
5is amended by changing Section 11.15 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 2605/11.15)  (from Ch. 42, par. 331.15)
7    Sec. 11.15. No person shall be employed upon contracts for
8work to be done by any such sanitary district unless he is a
9citizen of the United States, a national of the United States
10under Section 1401 of Title 8 of the United States Code, an
11alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence under Section
121101 of Title 8 of the United States Code, or an individual who
13has been granted asylum under Section 1158 of Title 8 of the
14United States Code or has in good faith declared his intention
15to become such a citizen. In all cases where an alien after
16filing his declaration of intention to become a citizen of the
17United States, shall for the space of three months after he
18could lawfully do so, fail to take out his final papers and
19obtain his citizenship such failure shall be prima facie
20evidence that his declaration of intention was not made in good
21faith.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
