SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 145/27 new

    Amends the Tanning Facility Permit Act. Provides that a person under 18 years of age may not use an ultraviolet lamp or a product containing such a lamp for the irradiation of any part of the person's body at a tanning facility and that neither an owner of a tanning facility nor an operator at a tanning facility may permit such use by a person under 18 years of age. Provides that these provisions do not prohibit spray tanning at a tanning facility by a person under 18 years of age.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Tanning Facility Permit Act is amended by
5adding Section 27 as follows:
 
6    (210 ILCS 145/27 new)
7    Sec. 27. Ultraviolet lamp tanning by person under age 18
8prohibited.
9    (a) A person under 18 years of age may not use an
10ultraviolet lamp or a product containing such a lamp for the
11irradiation of any part of the person's body at a tanning
12facility.
13    (b) Neither an owner of a tanning facility nor an operator
14at a tanning facility may permit the use of an ultraviolet lamp
15or a product containing such a lamp at the tanning facility for
16the irradiation of any part of the body of a person under 18
17years of age.
18    (c) Nothing in this Section shall be construed to prohibit
19a person under 18 years of age from spray tanning at a tanning
20facility without the use of an ultraviolet lamp or a product
21containing such a lamp for the irradiation of any part of the
22person's body. For purposes of this subsection, "spray tanning"
23means the application of chemicals to the skin to produce an
