Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that, upon request of an authority making an appointment to a board or commission created by State law or upon request of the Chairman or Minority Spokesperson of the Senate Executive Appointments Committee, the Attorney General shall issue an advisory opinion concerning whether the person being appointed meets the qualifications of the office to which the appointing authority intends to make its appointment.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 3A-45 as follows: |
6 | | (5 ILCS 420/3A-45 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3A-45. Advisory opinion regarding qualification for |
8 | | appointment. Upon request of an authority making an appointment |
9 | | to a board or commission created by State law or upon request |
10 | | of the Chairman or Minority Spokesperson of the Senate |
11 | | Executive Appointments Committee, the Attorney General shall |
12 | | issue an advisory opinion concerning whether the person being |
13 | | appointed meets the qualifications of the office to which the |
