AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3112

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3112 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2RRR as follows:
 
6    (815 ILCS 505/2RRR new)
7    Sec. 2RRR. Satellite broadcast service disclosure.
8    (a) In this Section, "broadcast service provider" means a
9provider of video programming by means of satellite
10transmission, master antenna television, satellite master
11antenna television, direct broadcast satellite, or multipoint
12distribution service.
13    (b) A broadcast service provider must require its equipment
14installers to make the following disclosures, both orally and
15in writing, to a customer before installing any equipment at a
16customer's premises:

1        (1) the differences between a residential subscription
2    package and a commercial customer subscription package;
3    and
4        (2) the potential penalties for subscription piracy
5    involved when a commercial subscription user accepts a
6    residential subscription package.
7    The installer shall obtain a written acknowledgement
8signed by the customer acknowledging that the customer has
9received the disclosures required under this Section.
10    (c) A broadcast service provider may not change or extend a
11contract with a customer unless the customer requests the
12change in the contract or terms of service.
13    (d) A person who violates this Section commits an unlawful
14practice within the meaning of this Act.
 
15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.".
