SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Giovannoni of Palatine; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Giovannoni was the co-owner of The Music Room
5in downtown Palatine; his life revolved around music; besides
6his work at The Music Room, he played drums and trombone with
7the Elmhurst Jazz Band and the band Simply Vintage and taught
8music at both Quest Academy and St. Theresa's in Palatine; he
9emceed Palatine's yearly Pet Parade and judged its Battle of
10the Bands; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Giovannoni's co-owner of The Music Room,
12Carol Cook, met him 22 years ago when she hired him to play in a
13band she was putting together for a children's musical and the
142 joined forces to open The Music Room in 1994; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Giovannoni is survived by his wife, Chris
16Mitchell; his parents; his grandmother; his sister; and many
17other family members; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Giovannoni's dying request was that people
19not hold a service, memorial, or a funeral, but celebrate his
20life with a party; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3John Giovannoni, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and love him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of John Giovannoni as a expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
