SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Inell Brewer, who passed away on April 5,
42013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was born as Johnnie Mae Ervin on
6January 16, 1930, in Lexington, Mississippi; her parents were
7John and Elnora Ervin; her father changed her name to Inell
8when she was 2 years old; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer later moved to Chicago and married
10Burney Brewer in 1952; to this union, 9 children were born;
11from 1952 to 1979, she and her family lived on the near north
12side and Cabrini-Green housing projects, before relocating to
13the west side of Chicago; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was a domestic engineer and also
15served as a hairdresser for her family and friends; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer was a member of Mt Olivet M.B.
17Church, under the leadership of Rev. Fred Daniels, Rev. Steve
18C. Chew, and Rev. Ray C. Bonney, as well as Little Rock M.B.
19Church, under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Davenport; she was
20also a member of Holy Corinthian M.B. Church, under the
21leadership of Rev. C.T. Baker; she finally became a member of

1Union Hill Baptist Church in order to be with her husband; at
2each church, she was an active choir member and led several
3songs, including "Lord You've Been Good to Me"; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer enjoyed cooking, especially for her
5grandchildren, and singing praises to God; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Inell Brewer is survived by her daughters, Thelma
7(Kenneth) Griffin, Jeffery Pearl Cocroft, Sandra Jean (Hubert)
8Phillips, Denise Brewer, Geraldine Sutton, Sharon Lanette, and
9Anastasia Lavonne Baker; her sons, Ollie and Andrew Wayne; her
10daughter-in-law, Joyce Brewer; her brother-in-law, Frank
11Phillips; her sisters-in-law, Lou Emma Brewer, Stella Brewer,
12and Louise Brewer; her grandchildren, Nikia Alicia (James)
13Ward, Tanisha Nicole Brewer, Tony Jerome, Jr. (Asha) Sutton,
14Grant Phillip Brewer, Darrius Diontae Sutton, Tashiana Cheri
15Phillips, Sean Lamar Brewer, Kyla Shardae, Jerome II, and
16Kristen Madison Baker; her great-granddaughters, Raven Tuere
17Hams and Sophie Sutton; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins,
18friends, and members of the Union Hill family; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
21his family and friends, the passing of Inell Brewer; and be it

2presented to the family of Inell Brewer as an expression of our
3sympathy.
