SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carol Lee Higgins Kellogg of Chicago, who
4passed away on May 10, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carol Kellogg was born in Chicago on February 24,
61924, to Lee George Higgins and Josephine Carter; she attended
7Wendell Phillips High School and then moved to Harvey in 1940;
8she married Walter "Bill" Kellogg shortly after moving; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carol Kellogg worked as a professional chef; over
10the years she worked at many fine restaurants in the south
11suburbs; she also cooked for many years at Mother of Sorrows
12School in Blue Island; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carol Kellogg enjoyed words, poems, politics, and
14sports; known affectionately as "Ma", her house was a gathering
15spot for family and friends to enjoy good meals, fun, and
16laughter; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Carol Kellogg was preceded in death by her
18parents; her daughter, Denise Kellogg; and her siblings, Vernon
19Higgins, Bernice Aikens, and Audrey Wallace; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Carol Kellogg is survived by her children, Dreina

1(Michael) Lewis, Walter Kellogg III, Derrick (Terry) Muhammad,
2Trustee Joyce Kellogg-Weaver, Rommel Kellogg, and Mayor Eric J.
3Kellogg; her grandchildren, Monica Lewis Fox, Bettie Lewis,
4Grover Smith, Derrick Kellogg, DuSean Kellogg, Chanee Kellogg,
5Joi Weaver, Rommel Kellogg Jr., Jamel Kellogg, Ramone Doyle,
6Kira Kellogg, Kito Kellogg, and Eric Kellogg II; and 19
7great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Carol Kellogg, and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Carol Kellogg as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
