SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Regina Meriweather Haynes, who passed
4away on May 11, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Regina Haynes was born on May 17, 1960, in
6Chicago; her parents were Mae Etta and Milton Talbert Kelly;
7she married Alexis Meriweather and they had 2 children
8together; she later married Rev. Patrick Haynes in 2005; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Regina Haynes graduated from Avalon Park
10Elementary School and Jones Commercial High School; she
11subsequently took business courses at Loop Junior College (now
12Harold Washington College); and
 
13    WHEREAS, Regina Haynes found Christ at an early age and was
14a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church; she was
15also a member of the choir and the missionary board at Gospel
16Truth Missionary Baptist Church; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Regina Haynes emphasized the importance of
18education to her children; she served as president of Avalon
19Park Elementary School's local school council for over two
20terms; and

1    WHEREAS, Regina Haynes is survived by her husband, Patrick;
2her children, Monica, Monique, and Isaiah; her siblings, Bonita
3and Gerald; her uncles, Wardell (Barbara) and Dell (Marie); her
4cousin, Desmond (Teresa); and her many other family members and
5friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8her family and friends, the passing of Regina Meriweather
9Haynes; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Regina Haynes as an expression of
12our sympathy.
