SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Raymond "Ray" Severs Sr., who passed
4away on June 5, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. was born on June 9, 1925; his
6parents were Hubert Leon and Lillian Severs; he married June
7Audrey Morheiser on November 3, 1951, in Fox Lake; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. was veteran of the United States
9Marine Corps; he left high school to serve his country during
10World War II and was stationed in Okinawa and Japan; after
11completing his military service, he returned to finish high
12school, graduating from Grant High School with the class of
131947; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. worked at Fort Sheridan as a
15diesel mechanic before enjoying a 44-year career as a
16locomotive engineer for the Milwaukee Road; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. was a member of St. Peter Catholic
18Church in Spring Grove, American Legion Post 703 in Fox Lake,
19and the Spring Grove Volunteer Fire Department for many years;

1    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. enjoyed spending time with his
2family and his rottweilers, cooking, and using his CB radio;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. was preceded in death by his wife,
5June; his parents; his grandson, Aaron Lee Curboy Jr.; his
6brothers, Hubert Severs, Donald Severs, and Robert Severs; and
7his sister, Mary Lou Thennes; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Severs Sr. is survived by his children, John
9(Gena) Severs and Judith Ann Severs (Soland); his
10grandchildren, Brandi (Chas Ashton) Severs, Kenneth (Desiree)
11Severs, Joshua Soland, Jeremy Soland, Jennifer Soland, and
12Joseph Soland; his great-grandchildren, Kadin and Kirin
13Severs; and his sister, Lorena "Teenie" Wegener; therefore, be
14it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17his family and friends, the passing of John Raymond "Ray"
18Severs Sr.; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Severs Sr. as an expression of
21our sympathy.
