SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward L. Meister of Peoria, who passed
4away on July 19, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Meister was born on September 10, 1925 in
6Chicago; his parents were David W. and Lillian M. (Kaufman)
7Meister, Sr.; he married Bernetta "Bernie" J. Pascoe on
8September 16, 1949 in Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Meister was employed in the mechanical
10contracting industry for 63 years; he served as the Executive
11Vice-President of the Meyer Furnace Company, then as the
12Executive Vice President of Meister Brothers Inc.; he was also
13the founder and Chief Executive Officer of TEMCO Heating and
14Air Conditioning, Inc.; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Edward Meister and his brother, Paul, co-founded
16the Berean Prison Ministry, which brings the message of the
17Word of God to those who are imprisoned; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Edward Meister served his beloved Apostolic
19Christian Church as a song leader, teacher of an adult Bible
20class, Sunday school teacher, choir director, and faithful
21brother; he also lent his time and talents to the service of

1several community missions, including the Peoria Rescue
2Mission, the South Side Mission, and Faith Hope & Love; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Edward Meister was an accomplished musician and a
4member of the Pals of the Saddle Cowboy Band and the Brothers
5of Harmony Gospel Quartet; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Edward Meister enjoyed music and held a great
7appreciation for the majesty of the mountains and the challenge
8of mountain climbing; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Meister was preceded in death by his
10parents; his brothers, David, Jr., Raymond, Paul, and Walter;
11and his sister, Janet; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edward Meister is survived by his wife, Bernetta;
13his sons, Edward C. (Dana) Meister, Robert A. (Tonia) Meister,
14and Scott R. (Kathy) Meister; his daughters, Ellen I. (Leon)
15Robison and Martha J. (Gordon) Steffen; his 22 grandchildren;
16and his 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward L. Meister; and
20be it further
