2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Edward L. Meister of Peoria, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 19, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister was born on September 10, 1925 in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; his parents were David W. and Lillian M. (Kaufman) | ||||||
7 | Meister, Sr.; he married Bernetta "Bernie" J. Pascoe on | ||||||
8 | September 16, 1949 in Peoria; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister was employed in the mechanical | ||||||
10 | contracting industry for 63 years; he served as the Executive | ||||||
11 | Vice-President of the Meyer Furnace Company, then as the | ||||||
12 | Executive Vice President of Meister Brothers Inc.; he was also | ||||||
13 | the founder and Chief Executive Officer of TEMCO Heating and | ||||||
14 | Air Conditioning, Inc.; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister and his brother, Paul, co-founded | ||||||
16 | the Berean Prison Ministry, which brings the message of the | ||||||
17 | Word of God to those who are imprisoned; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister served his beloved Apostolic | ||||||
19 | Christian Church as a song leader, teacher of an adult Bible | ||||||
20 | class, Sunday school teacher, choir director, and faithful | ||||||
21 | brother; he also lent his time and talents to the service of |

1 | several community missions, including the Peoria Rescue | ||||||
2 | Mission, the South Side Mission, and Faith Hope & Love; and | ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister was an accomplished musician and a | ||||||
4 | member of the Pals of the Saddle Cowboy Band and the Brothers | ||||||
5 | of Harmony Gospel Quartet; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister enjoyed music and held a great | ||||||
7 | appreciation for the majesty of the mountains and the challenge | ||||||
8 | of mountain climbing; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | parents; his brothers, David, Jr., Raymond, Paul, and Walter; | ||||||
11 | and his sister, Janet; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Edward Meister is survived by his wife, Bernetta; | ||||||
13 | his sons, Edward C. (Dana) Meister, Robert A. (Tonia) Meister, | ||||||
14 | and Scott R. (Kathy) Meister; his daughters, Ellen I. (Leon) | ||||||
15 | Robison and Martha J. (Gordon) Steffen; his 22 grandchildren; | ||||||
16 | and his 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
19 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward L. Meister; and | ||||||
20 | be it further
