SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Terrance M. Flaherty, Sr. of Peoria, who
4passed away on August 1, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Terrance Flaherty, Sr. was born on September 6,
61943, in Peoria to Martin and Agnes (Kearns) Flaherty; he
7attended Spalding Institute in Peoria and was a graduate of
8Regis College in Denver, Colorado; he married Sheila O'Donoghue
9on February 12, 1966, in Peoria; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Terrance Flaherty, Sr. worked for Caterpillar
11Inc. for more than 40 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Terrance Flaherty, Sr. enjoyed spending his time
13as a grandpa, babysitter, carpool driver, coach, and handyman;
14he liked to travel and take cruises around the world with his
15wife; he was active with Saint Philomena Parish, Boy Scout
16Troop 18, the Peoria Youth Hockey Association, and Saint
17Brendan's Irish Society; he established the Peoria Parochial
18Soccer Program and volunteered his time with the Order of Saint
19Francis Medical Center, the Mended Hearts Association, and
20SeniorNet; he was a Master Gardner and a Master Naturalist; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Terrance Flaherty, Sr. was preceded in death by

1his brother, Arthur Silk; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Terrance Flaherty, Sr. is survived by his wife,
3Sheila; his children, Terrance (Jennifer) Flaherty, Jr., Brian
4(Karen) Flaherty, Patrick Flaherty, and Meghan (Matthew)
5Dries; his grandchildren, Brigid, Terrance, Colin, Brendan,
6Declan, Liam, Owen, Aidan, Tristan, Evan, Allison, Kaitlyn,
7Elizabeth, and Lillian; his brother, Martin (Lilyan) Flaherty;
8his sister-in-law, Mary Lu Silk; and many nieces and nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Terrance M. Flaherty, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Terrance Flaherty, Sr. as an
17expression of our deepest sympathy.
