2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Rosemary "Rosie" Donnelly Crowley Manning |
4 | | of Peoria, who passed away on August 16, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was born on May 24, 1931 |
6 | | in Peoria; her parents were Harold and Marie (Kelly) Donnelly; |
7 | | she married William A. "Billy" Crowley Jr. on May 8, 1954; he |
8 | | passed away on February 22, 1984; she later married Robert E. |
9 | | Manning, Jr. on March 24, 2001; he passed away on July 22, |
10 | | 2013; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a 1949 graduate of |
12 | | the Academy of Our Lady, where she earned the honor of May |
13 | | Queen and was involved in all the school's musical activities; |
14 | | she also was a proud member of the National Honor Society; she |
15 | | subsequently attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, |
16 | | Kansas on a voice scholarship and served as president of her |
17 | | freshman class; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was employed at Argonaut |
19 | | Great Central Insurance and Caterpillar Inc.; she later retired |
20 | | from Woodruff High School after 23 years of service; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Rosemary Crowley |

1 | | Manning joined the Women of Woodruff club to stay connected to |
2 | | her friends; she worked as a cosmetic consultant for the Magic |
3 | | of Aloe for 40 years; she also served on the board of the |
4 | | Morton Civic Chorus and sang with the group for 15 years; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a member of the |
6 | | Catholic Women's League and was a recipient of the |
7 | | organization's Angel Award; on June 5, 2011, Peoria Mayor Jim |
8 | | Ardis issued a proclamation designating "Rosie Crowley Manning |
9 | | Day"; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was an avid sports fan; |
11 | | her strong Catholic faith and Irish heritage made the |
12 | | University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team her |
13 | | number 1 passion, with Bradley University basketball following |
14 | | closely behind; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a solo vocalist and |
16 | | choir director at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where she |
17 | | beautifully sang and gladly served for almost 60 years; she |
18 | | also enjoyed performing singing telegrams to celebrate the |
19 | | arrival of new babies, birthdays, anniversaries, and |
20 | | retirements; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was preceded in death by |
22 | | her first husband, William Crowley; her second husband, Robert |

1 | | Manning, Jr.; her sister, Kathleen McQuellon; and her brothers, |
2 | | Hank Donnelly and Dick Donnelly; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning is survived by her |
4 | | children, Karen (Bob) Metzinger, Debi (John) Redington, James |
5 | | (Gail) Crowley, William A. (Laura) Crowley III, and John |
6 | | (Chris) Crowley; her 13 grandchildren; her 2 |
7 | | great-grandchildren; her step-children, Michael Manning, |
8 | | Lauren (Tom) Donlan, Linda Manning, Angela (Dan) Aeschliman, |
9 | | Robert (Kristen) Manning, James Manning, and Paul (Katie) |
10 | | Manning; her 18 step-grandchildren; her 8 |
11 | | step-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Angela Crowley |
12 | | Kenny and Georgana Donnelly; her cousins that were raised with |
13 | | her, Jim (Gerrie) Kelly and Bob (Grace) Kelly; and her many |
14 | | other cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Rosemary "Rosie" |
18 | | Donnelly Crowley Manning; and be it further
|
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Rosemary Crowley Manning as an |
21 | | expression of our sympathy.
