SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., who passed
4away on September 17, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was born on June 7, 1942 in
6Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. started his career as a
8Certified Public Accountant in 1965; he then received his Juris
9Doctor from DePaul University in Chicago and began working as a
10Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of
11Illinois as part of Governor Jim Thompson's "Kiddie Corps", a
12group of young attorneys who helped clean up corruption in the
13City of Chicago in the early 1970s; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. practiced law for over 40
15years and was always available to give advice to those in need;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was a diehard Chicago Cubs,
18Bears, and Blackhawks fan; he enjoyed powerboats, running,
19racquetball, and skiing and would take the family on ski trips
20to Colorado; he had a passion for music and dancing and could
21be seen hitting the town in one of his colorful Zoot Suits; and

1    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was preceded in death by his
2brother-in-law, Bob; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. is survived by his wife,
4Danusia; his 3 sons; his daughter, Marzenka (Chris); his
5granddaughter, Evelyn: his sons from his former wife Mary,
6Michael, Daniel, Timothy, Matthew (Michelle), and Edward; his
7brothers, William and Daniel; his sisters, Kathleen, Maureen,
8and Judi; and his grandchildren, Alexia, Brakell, Michael,
9Matthew, Abby, James, John, William, Mack, and Guy; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Michael Mullen, Sr. as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
