SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bernard J. "Bernie" Cobb, Sr. of
4Naperville, who passed away on January 7, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. was born on October 10, 1941 in
6Chicago to Sylver and Mary Cobb; he attended Quigley
7Preparatory Seminary South and graduated from William R. Harper
8High School in Chicago in 1960; he married Carol in 1966; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. worked with the Sign & Pictorial
10Painters of America as a gold-leaf draftsman and began his
11career with H.M. Witt & Co. Signs in Chicago; during this time,
12he earned numerous scholarships to the Art Institute of Chicago
13and continued his studies at the American Academy of Art; in
141970, he began attending Leadership Techniques, Inc. sales
15training and began selling the Leader Tech Tiger School
16programs; he began selling real estate in 1972 at Naperville's
17Thorsen Realtors and in 1978 he joined RE/MAX of Naperville;
18teaming up with his wife, and later his sons, he formed "The
19Cobb Team-Families Helping Families" and continued as a top
20agent until he retired from RE/MAX in 2007; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. always had a passion for art and
22painting; he reignited that passion after retirement at the

1Palette and Chisel Art Club in Chicago, producing over 500
2paintings in his home studio; he served on the club's board of
3directors for several years; he also enjoyed fishing,
4especially in Canada, vacationing out West, and viewing art
5galleries; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. was the beloved husband of Carol
7(nee Pecho) Cobb; the loving father of Bernard J. "Bernie"
8(Vickie) Cobb, Jr. and Christopher (Susan) Cobb; the adored
9grandfather of Courtney, Kyle, Carley, and Porter Cobb; the
10devoted son of the late Sylver and Mary Cobb; the dear brother
11of Judy (Bill) Desmond, Mary Ellen Cosgrove, Diane (the late
12Larry) Kelly, and the late David (Charlotte) Cobb; the fond
13brother-in-law of Marge Pecho and Victor (Pat) Pecho; and the
14adored uncle of many and loving owner of his dog, Thor;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Bernard J. "Bernie" Cobb, Sr., and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Bernard Cobb, Sr. as an expression
23of our deepest sympathy.
